With the strings of the kora and the double bass resonating in harmony, *Racines* is the intimate story of a brilliant collaboration between Senegalese griot Zal Sissokho and Montreal jazz musician Laurent Perreault-Jolicoeur. Emotionally raw and imbued with a deep sense of camaraderie, their compositions form “a lively conversation between West Africa and North America” (RFI, 2025)—an atmospheric, captivating, and timeless experience, where Mandinka tradition and the spontaneity of jazz resonate with poetry and elegance. *Racines* is an 11-track album, released in 2025 on the Disques Nuits d’Afrique label.
