With his charisma and flair for entertainment—much like an enthusiastic talent show host— Idriss the Black Viking was the perfect choice to host this series, which celebrates the profound influence, modernity, and versatility of Mandingo music—a tradition that Nuits d’Afrique has consistently championed over the past 40 years. Set to some seriously hot grooves, like a slightly rebellious sage, Idriss—a friendly, uninhibited charmer—shares his wisdom and tells stories of life in his resonant voice, tinged with reggae accents.
To bring the Festival to a grand finale, Idriss the Black Viking—affectionately nicknamed “Tonton” to highlight his role in mentoring the next generation—invites his “little ones” from Togo and Côte d’Ivoire to join the celebration.
