About
How does the center of mass move, and how does it help us maintain our balance? What forces come into play when a body jumps, spins, or lands?
Salto takes us on a captivating athletic and scientific adventure. This unique show combines circus performances, athletic demonstrations, and key concepts from mathematics and physics to bring science to life... in motion! Through spectacular pirouettes and balancing acts, we discover how forces and the center of mass influence every athletic movement.
Presented as part of the 24 Hours of Science, by Sciences et mathématiques en action (SMAC) at Laval University, to mark its 20th anniversary, Salto aims to spark scientific curiosity and challenge preconceived notions: mathematics and physics aren’t just theoretical—they’re concrete, dynamic, and WOW! An inspiring show that reveals that science is everywhere... including in the movement of the body.
The activity takes place in all weather conditions, unless safety is compromised
