About
The opening of the exhibition *Traversing the Territory: Sculpture, Weaving, Ornamentation* is an opportunity to discover the Museum’s new exhibition. The curators will be in attendance, and Maya-Kaqchikel artist Marilyn Boror Bor will give a performance.
This performance invites reflection on colonialism and the objectification of Indigenous bodies. The artist takes a stand against museum and anthropological trends that persist in associating Indigenous cultures with the past. Through her performance, Boror Bor affirms that Indigenous cultures are alive, present, and continue to generate meaning and knowledge within communities.
The Indigenous Contemporary Art Biennial plans and coordinates exhibitions at nine cultural centers and museums across Quebec. More than 100 Indigenous artists and artists from the diaspora are featured in this eighth edition of the Biennial. The Rimouski Museum is hosting works by 17 Indigenous artists and artists from the diaspora.
Admission to the museum will be free for the event.
